These tasks and duties include, but are not limited to, the personal care and instruction, teaching and guiding proper behavior and behavior management, hygiene and overall well-being, and social, emotional, academic and other developmental activities of children in their care.
It also includes preparation for and implementation of activities, and maintaining cleanliness, decorations, and safety of the classroom, and ongoing communication with children and parents.
Ensures compliance with Virginia State Licensing regulations.
Works within the Mission, Vision, Philosophy, Purpose and Goals of the Riverside Child Development & Learning Center and Riverside Regional Medical Center.
What you will do Is able to effectively manage all aspects of the classroom to include, but not limited to maintaining the classroom environment, supplies, toys and equipment (inside and outside).
Organizes and stores toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas, performs general tasks and duties of the classroom such as supervision of children, ensuring children's needs are met, providing age appropriate behavior management, taking attendance, completing required paperwork, and communicating to parents re:
children's daily activities through Tadpoles app, email, over the phone or in person as applicable.
Provides overall sense of teamwork, giving clear directions and promoting a positive culture.
Responsible for maintaining all aspects of the classroom and playground to include decorations, safety and cleanliness in compliance with center policies and Virginia State Licensing regulations.
Ensures proper paperwork is posted, updated and turned into the office, current themes and artwork is displayed, centers have adequate supplies and toys available to children, and proper sanitation is maintained daily.
Oversees the complete daily care of all children in their assigned classroom to ensure children are safe, organized, happy, and engaged in age appropriate activities.
Participate in, observe and monitor children's play activities, assist with diaper and clothing changes as applicable, instruct children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits, and assist in preparing food and serving meals and refreshments to children.
Continuously supports and monitors children's physical, mental, social, emotional and academic development and progress, encourages understanding of others and positive self-concepts, and provides ongoing communication to parents.
Keeps records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered.
Identifies signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and brings them to parents'/guardians' attention after discussing with management.
Responsible for following and implementing the center curriculum to include, but not limited to, the center monthly calendar, classroom lesson plans, and additional activities and events as assigned by Lead Teacher and center management.
May assist in creating developmentally appropriate lesson plans and is responsible for implementing them.
Reads to children and assists with arts & crafts, movement & music, science & nature, cognitive language & literacy, fine & gross motor skills, sensory and dramatic play as age appropriate.
May assist in planning, organizing and participating in recreational activities and outings, such as games, special visitors and field trips.
Assists with planning and implementing 2 children's programs (music, poems, play, etc.
) per year for parents to attend.
Maintains open communication, with proper tone and body language, with all team members, management and parents as necessary about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues, needs or concerns as they relate to the center or the children.
Maintains a positive working relationship with all team members, management and parents.
Exhibits a professional attitude at all times and maintains respect and cooperation when working with others.
