Synopsis The Training Brain Operations Center (TBOC) provides the central management for the Training Brain. The Training Brain facilitates and acts as the principal enabler for continuous learning across all TRADOC lines of effort through acquiring, analyzing, creating, organizing, applying and transferring data, information, and knowledge in the context of current and future operations. The Training Brain quickly and accurately represents the Operational Environment (OE) using a set of dynamic, integrated analytical processes, information technologies, knowledge networks, and tailored delivery applications. It connects with, develops, and maintains real-world databases necessary to replicate the complex, competitive nature of the OE. The Training Brain seeks out, explores, and integrates technologies and methods to assist in representing environments, events, and capabilities across all Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, Personnel, and Facilities (DOTMLPF) domains. Duty is at the TBOC in Newport News, VA.
Major Duties:
The Senior Systems Analyst develops, coordinates, and executes IT solutions to meet the ever-changing needs of the Core G-2 at the Training Brain Operations Center (TBOC). The Senior Systems Analyst manages multiple servers on multiple networks supporting a wide variety of commercial and proprietary products that provide global support to the mission of Core G-2. The Senior Systems Analyst also manages all network connectivity for the members of Core G-2, including fiber-optic and copper connections and the systems residing on those networks. Additionally, the Senior Systems Analyst builds and maintains computer system images using VMware vSphere suite for the end-user and for deploying these systems, as needs arise. The Senior Systems Analyst also installs and maintains computer and storage solutions. Background Requirements:
Maintain Computing Systems on Daily Basis. This task requires the Senior Systems Analyst to maintain the computer systems that the employees of TBOC use on a daily basis. These systems comprise desktop and laptop computers, printers, monitors, and all necessary peripherals. This task also requires the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all virtual servers and storage assets in use by TBOC members, including the maintenance, configuration, and installation of all Data Domain, Dell CLARiiON, and Symantec NetBackup machines.
Coordinate Advanced Systems Integration. Task requires the Senior Systems Analyst to coordinate with multiple parties to incorporate information systems solutions into the framework of the network used by Core G-2. In order to develop a solution to IT needs, this task requires the Senior Systems Analyst to communicate at a very technical level with different entities of government, contract, and third-party companies.
Implement Advanced Systems. In addition to coordinating advanced systems, the Senior Systems Analyst implements IT systems when plans are finalized. Implementation requires Senior Systems Analyst to have the foresight to understand all aspects of the project from beginning to end, including requirements for the Network Operations Center available space, power, network connectivity, and proper hardware necessary to complete the task. Once preparations are complete, the Senior Systems Analyst is required to fully implement the build of the system, incorporating server placement, operating system install, proper patching and compliance, networking, and installation of the required applications. The Senior Systems Analyst must be able to support a wide variety of platforms and hardware, such as Windows Server, Linux, and VMware vSphere solutions. Engineer new virtualization solutions to fit a specific technical / process requirement.
Support the VMware ESX environment including activities such as design, maintenance & troubleshooting. Handle ongoing maintenance e.g., service pack installations, hot fixes, software upgrades, etc. Have a general knowledge of server technologies, and network and enterprise storage technologies. Participate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies. Serve as a technical primary contact on projects as assigned. Serve as an escalation point for technical issues at the team level. Troubleshoot technology issues, using various internal and external resources. Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems. Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects. Participate in post-mortem process for problems as appropriate.
Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality. Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
Stay current on industry trends and new technologies and recommend future initiatives.
Must be DoD 8570.1 Certified to at least IAT Level 2. 7 years in VMWare ESX experience. 10 years in enterprise server experience. Expert knowledge in VMWare ESX 4.x and ESX 5.x which includes the following: Service Console, VMotion, DRS, HA, Host Isolation, Virtual Center Working knowledge of Enterprise NAS and SAN technologies. Bachelor''s degree or equivalent work experience.
Must possess a Top Secret Clearance with access to SCI.
