System Architects support and influence the analysis, design and support of software or hardware solutions that meet business partner needs. The primary area of focus will be enterprise mobility solutions for Newport News Shipbuilding, but may also include other Huntington Ingalls Industries subsidiaries as needed. The individual will follow a Systems Development Life Cycle process and support System Engineers with requirements analysis, specification development, system design and testing associated with implementation and support of predominantly Mobile infrastructure, applications, and interfaces such as SAP, Siemens Tool Sets, Microsoft SharePoint, and in-house developed applications. The individual needs the ability to work with and lead teams consisting of project management, systems engineers, business analysts, technical resources, process leads, and system users to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of business process enhancements.
Primary Duties:
Define the overall technical architecture for the mobile environments and applications envisioned with the customer.
Define the technical requirements for the implementation of mobile solutions.
Present the customer technical aspects of the mobile application solution architecture, including the technology used, methodology followed, and devices selected.
Preparing technical solution and architecture documents, artifacts, work products and presentations for the customer.
Representing the customer's technical solution requirements to all applicable stakeholders.
Influence the implementation of new mobile solutions and support legacy systems often identified as broad, complex, and have critical customer enhancement challenges and issues.
Contribute to the overall planning of projects by recommending approaches, identifying resources, and developing timelines. Leverage lifecycle implementation experience to anticipate changes required in project plans and processes. Effectively communicate issues and alternative solutions. Takes initiative to achieve valued-added results and improve upon solutions offered.
Develop and foster collaborative working relationships with the customer, project managers and team members.
Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Hours: 7:00 - 3:30. Location: Newport News VA 23607.
REQUIRED
Experience:
The ideal candidate should a minimum of 9 years IT experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent (7 years with an advanced degree a plus), have worked for a large consulting, systems integration, or technology company. Have significant technical experience in previous mobile projects and possess a proven track record for leading or supporting technical solutions.
Preferred :

years of Software Development (Java, C++, .NET, or C# development).
4
years' experience working with iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android, or Windows Mobile platforms.
3
years of experience working for a large Consulting or Systems Integration company
Good understanding and knowledge of Mobile Application development and experience working with either wireless carriers, cable operators, and/or media companies.
Proven track-record of working with development teams and delivery.
Experience in working as a solutions architect or sales a plus, but not required.
Proficient in authoring, editing and presenting technical documents such as Solution/System Roadmaps and architecture documents.
Proficient in verbal communication skills including presentation to large audiences
Ability to effectively present information to team members and management, customers and prospects.
Excellent team building, people and management skills.
EDUCATION:
Must have a BS in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
