Accouting Assistant - Medical Billing/Coding


Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of general accounting support tasks in a Workers Compensation department. Verifies accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records. Updates and maintains accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., accounts receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers, payrolls, receipts, accounts payable). Enters data into computer system using defined computer programs; compiles data and prepares a variety of reports. Reconciles records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors or customers. May reconcile bank and financial statements/report. Follows-up on submitted claims with insurance companies. Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies. Investigates questionable data. ICD/CPT coding experience required.

Hours given as 8 to 5 but first shift is 7:30 to 4 at this location. Location: Newport News, VA 23607.

REQUIRED
Experience:
2 years education and/or relevant experience.

EDUCATION:
Must have a high school diploma/GED from an accredited institution; position does not support a degree.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
